Since many members of the Senior Solo Travel Community have expressed a desire to meet other solo travelers, here is an international travel opportunity, which will make it happen safely! In September 2027, I am taking a personal solo trip to Vienna, Austria, before catching a train deep into Slovakia.
There are some people in the group that are experienced solo travelers, that just might have fun meeting other like-minded travelers. There are others that are more nervous about solo traveling and would like to make connections. Because of this, I am opening up a casual, completely free community meetup while I am in town.
The Meetup Itinerary

Friday, September 10, 2027 (Evening Welcome Meetup): We will meet up on the lawn at Karlsplatz to enjoy the vibrant, artistic performances of the Vienna Buskers Festival together! (Backup Plan: Because festival schedules can shift, our official backup location is the magnificent MuseumsQuartier Central Courtyard. If the festival does not take place, we will establish our "Community Base Camp" on the lounge chairs in that stunning arts plaza instead).

Saturday, September 11, 2027 (Completely Open Day): This day is entirely yours to explore Vienna's grand palaces, museums, and markets at your own pace.

Sunday, September 12, 2027 (Morning Farewell Coffee): We will gather at the historic Café Schwarzenberg on the Ringstraße for an independent morning coffee, pastries, and a final farewell chat before I depart for Slovakia.

This IS NOT a Guided Tour: I am not a tour guide, and I will not be organizing daily sightseeing activities, handling hotel room blocks, or booking flights. You are entirely in the driver’s seat! You get to choose your own flights, stay at a hotel that fits your budget, and explore Vienna exactly how you want to during the day.

Keep in mind that I am not suggesting you travel all the way to Vienna for a 3-day meetup. What I'm suggesting is that you weave this meetup into your travel plans. Think of this gathering as the perfect anchor point or kickoff for a much larger, more comprehensive vacation. You can use Vienna's world-class rail system to easily build your own spectacular multi-week itinerary before or after our community gathering.

Explore Central Europe by Train: Vienna is the ultimate rail hub. You can catch direct, comfortable, high-speed trains to explore incredible neighboring capitals on your own, such as Budapest, Hungary (2.5 hours away) or Prague, Czech Republic (4 hours away).

Discover the Austrian Alps: Spend a week before or after the meetup taking the scenic train routes through the breathtaking Austrian countryside to visit the historic streets of Salzburg or the lakeside fairy-tale village of Hallstatt.

Venture Off the Beaten Path: Look at a map and pick a totally new-to-you destination! Many beautiful neighboring regions like Slovakia, Slovenia, or the southern German countryside are just a short, easy train ride away from our meeting spot.
